Helping Local Chairty
Help us buy an all-terrain Mobility Scooter
Ribble Valley Inns has always been proud to work exclusively with local suppliers. So it’s only natural we’re keen to keep it local when we support a charity too. That’s why we invite you...our locals and visitors alike...to help us raise vital funds for Tramper all-terrain Mobility Scooters...fantastic vehicles that mean people with limited mobility can still enjoy all the delights and the scenery of our beautiful Forest of Bowland.
We live in one of the most dramatically beautiful parts of Britain. But for some, exploring the sheer joys of the Trough of Bowland has proved an almost impossible task.
Every additional ‘Tramper’ scooter we can buy opens the door to our magnificent landscape for countless people who would otherwise be denied easy access.
The project is co-ordinated by The Bowland Tourism Environment Fund. So, we will add a voluntary donation of just 20p per guest to your total bill...every penny of which will go to this social enterprise charity. We’ll also provide regular updates of how much we’ve raised so you can see what a difference you’ve made...and how many people have benefited.
Of course, your donation is totally voluntary, so if you would prefer not to be involved on this occasion, simply ask your waiter to remove it from the bill.
Thank you so much for your support.

Bowland Tourism Environment Fund
The Forest of Bowland was designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1964 covering 312 sq miles of moorland, fringe farmland, woodland and open river and reservoir landscapes. The Forest of Bowland AONB is a nationally protected landscape and internationally important for its heather moorland, blanket bog and rare birds. The AONB is managed by a partnership which works to protect, conserve and enhance the natural and cultural heritage of this special area.
The primary purpose of the AONB designation is to protect and conserve the natural beauty of the area, whilst having regard to the social and economic needs of the landowners, farmers and communities. The AONB also has a duty to cater for recreation and tourism, but only if this is consistent with protecting the natural beauty of the area. It is for this reason that we are promoting sustainable tourism within the Forest of Bowland: tourism which is dependent upon the area’s environment, and which seeks to enhance that environment, not detract from it.

Situated in the North West of England, the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) covers 312sq miles of rural Lancashire and North Yorkshire and includes the famous landmark Pendle Hill.
The Forest of Bowland AONB offers plenty of opportunity for quiet enjoyment such as walking, cycling, fishing and horse riding, and with newly opened Access Land, can now offer some of the most remote and rugged walking in the North West.
To make Bowland your discovery, explore this site for things to see and do, where you can walk, cycle and horse ride and find out up to date information on local and national events happening in the area.
