Wines of the month
Pull up a chair and try one of our favourites this month. Even if you normally shy away from Chardonnay, our pick might be able to win you over! Or if red is more up your street, this fruity Italian is sure to hit the spot.
Chardonnay, The Accomplice, Australia 2016
This will change your mind about Chardonnay – lively peach & nectarine flavours, creamy texture, fresh citrus zest and a whiff of oak.
This Chardonnay is from selected vineyards in the Riverina, chosen for their intense varietal characters. Warm fermentation and a wide variety of yeast strains are used to add complexity and texture. The grapes are fermented on American oak Staves for up to 20 days.
The wine is full of peach and nectarine fruit with a gentle hint of toffee oak. Soft and creamy on the palate, the acidity is clean and fresh and the finish long and fruity.
Sangiovese, Terre Allegre, Puglia, Italy
The Sangiovese grape is normally associated with Chianti & produces a brilliant, fruity, easy going wine with red fruits.
Lots of strawberry, raspberry and a little baked cherry on the nose, red fruits again on the palate with juicy ripe tannins. This is a juicy, succulent red with savoury cherry and plum characters, very soft in style with a light-medium body and fresh acidity.
